Not only does this restaurant make you feel like you've literally stepped into Tokyo (as evidenced by the traditional booths, decor and Japanese waitresses serving you in Yukatas), the food will surpass your expectations. Just revisited on a Friday. Luckily, I found parking in their tiny lot, about 20 spots, that it shares with Swiss Chalet. And I'm sure that non-patrons park there too! Positive: The atmosphere is quite nice, dimly lit, tealights at tables. Service is also pleasant. I accidentally tipped over my tea and it was addressed immediately. Not-so-positive: I would say that sushi is *just* okay. When maki rolls arrived, from a distance, it just literally looked like a plate of white rice. Presentation was definitely their weak point. Pieces were not only cut unevenly, but they also fell apart as I picked them up with my chopsticks. Rolls were not rolled tight enough. Instead they were quite large and loose. I'm quite surprised at some of the reviews here though. I love the place! I feel very welcomed, the service is good, and the atmosphere is quite nice. I live near Queen and Spadina and have had some difficulty with finding decent low-medium priced sushi. Toshi is across from where I take spin class and I noticed that the sign indicated that the chef was Japanese so I decided to try it out. I found the fish to be fresh, the restaurant to be clean and the service to be attentive. They service appropriately sized rolls and nigiri, as opposed to the giant pieces that many other establishments serve (this is a good think IMO).
