I read many reviews from many places and decided I didn't want to visit this place, after bumping into a friend who had RAVE reviews I decided to give it a shot and dam I am GLAD! The eating area decor is old and not meant to impress, but many reviews said it was dirty I did NOT find that it is a truck stop. I read there are rude waitresses, well there isn't any waitresses at all so that issue was void. You order your food and wait for your number to be called is how the purchase process works. What you get is a GREAT tasting steak for a crazy value, 12oz your choice of 3 cuts NY, Tbone, or rib eye AND fries for $11.99, OR feeling more hungry 16oz same cut choices for $12.99 but no sides. I went there the first time one week ago and have been there 4 times my orders have been the 12oz special with fries and 16oz without fries all times were great. SO you love steak but can't afford the crazy prices and don't care about decor this place can't disappoint, great steak and portions for budget pricing. Read more

The grilled trout is particularly tasty as is the chicken mandarin salad favoured by my wife. During cold weather we love the home made carrot and ginger and potato leek soups followed by the tasty liver and onions or the hearty steak and kidney pie. Mandarin is a really excellent place to eat a buffet. They are really kind to you and free refills (water, coke). They give you these mint candy after your visit for free. If you tell them that it is your birthday, they give you a cake piece, sing the happy birthday song and a free picture. Also, they have decorations for you to enjoy and they keep the place very neat. I like how they make food and name the food it’s specific name. The names also say if it is sugar-free, and if it is spicy. They have specific rooms that they assign you to eat and the sign tells you what room it is (Room A, Room b .etc.). The employes are really nice and when you come in, they make you feel welcomed (unless if the lineup is really long and people have reservations). After you are done with your food, you can just leave your plate on your table. You can get a new plate with food on it so you do not have to use the same plate over and over again. In conclusion, you should really go to Mandarin. It is a really excellent buffet to go to. It has crab legs right now and they are really expensive to buy at a store. They have a variety of foods and make their own combinations of foods which is really good. The manager showed up forthwith and apologized and had the order removed from the bill. The plate returned with a newly fired filet shortly. It was well flavoured and to be honest I would have gone through the raw fish to get to the Mash , it was outstanding, the veg, carrots and green beans were fresh not frozen. It was a flavourful dish and well executed for psuedo-blackening of a bland fish. I would like to see someone do the traditional Paul Prudholme Blackening instead of the grill and bake "bronzing " that is passed off as Blackening.
